Last year’s mosquito season was bad, with many people falling ill and dying with the West Nile Virus. With all the rain we’ve been getting, this year could be another bad one. Here is a reminder of what you can do to help protect yourself, your family and neighbors.
Here are some tips to keep mosquitoes off you:
- Eliminate standing water around your house, including gutters.
- In areas that stay damp—like under decks and in flower beds—spray a bug control agent like http://www.spectracide.com. Follow the directions and be sure to set yourself a reminder for followup treatments.
- Use an insect repellent with DEET in it. This is hands down the best repellent for mosquitoes.
- Use floor and ceiling fans on your porches to keep the air moving across you.
