Our recent clients had a beautiful 4,700 square-foot home in Keller, Texas. The spacious 1990’s house included a large kitchen, complete with an L-shaped bar for seating and a small center island. While the size of the kitchen itself was great, the layout was not ideal. The clients loved to cook as a family, so the existing footprint with the bar on the outside and the island in the middle made it difficult for multiple people to be in the kitchen at once. This resulted in a very congested, crowded workspace. The clients came to us not only wanting to resolve this issue, but also had hopes to modernize the kitchen’s dated appearance with an open-concept look.
There are a lot of variables that come into play during a bathroom remodel. The size and state of the existing bathroom, the complexity of the project, the features and amenities to be included, the structural changes that need to be made, and of course, the intended use of the remodeled space by the homeowners – that is, determining what modifications will most effectively solve the homeowner’s current issues with the bathroom. These variables are different for every project: perhaps the existing bathroom is too small and lacks storage space, or maybe it is insufficient for an elderly parent that needs handicap-accessible features. Maybe a remodel was started with a contractor who did things incorrectly and failed to finish the job, leaving the bathroom completely unusable. Because each of these scenarios have different starting points and require different courses of action to meet the homeowner’s needs, they each require their own customized design plan.
If you haven’t done much upkeep in your home for several years, it might feel overwhelming to know where to start. Aside from a major, full-gut remodel in a kitchen or bathroom, there are many smaller projects that can be completed to contribute to a more modern look overall.
Aesthetically speaking, minor upgrades here and there can really make a big impact in your home as a whole as time goes by. One way to go about this is to choose a handful of small projects to complete independently throughout the year, resulting in a beautifully updated home over time. For example, refreshing the interior paint in the spring and replacing dated carpet with a solid-surface flooring in the fall can provide for a modern, updated look come holiday season. It may not be realistic for you to do everything at once, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with tackling small projects individually to slowly transform your dated home!

Another common request we receive is for assistance in making accommodations for elderly parents. This can either involve our clients remodeling their own home to allow for parents to move in or remodeling their parent’s home to prepare for aging-in-place. Either situation can be difficult, as making provisions for elderly parents can be stressful and emotional. Our goal in assisting with age-in-place remodeling is to simplify the process for both the clients and their parents to make for the best experience possible!

Our recent clients wanted to update their 1980’s Southlake home to better meet their needs. As it was, they used a small guest bedroom as their home office – a very crowded room that lacked the storage space and functionality needed for an individual that works from home. Unfortunately, this is often the case for homeowners that have a makeshift workspace. Luckily, these clients had a large upstairs bonus room that was not in use – the perfect area to be converted into a spacious home office!
Being in the remodeling industry, we have regretfully heard story after story from homeowners that have had terrible experiences with their previous contractors. It never ceases to amaze us how many people have been lied to, deceived, and taken advantage of by so-called “remodeling professionals.” As unfortunate as it is, it’s true that there are contractors out there that will do whatever it takes to get your money. Not only do they lack integrity in their word, but also in the quality of their work. It’s no wonder the term “contractor” tends to put a sour taste in homeowner’s mouths!
