Every remodel starts somewhere, but this one began in a place no homeowner hopes for: a leak. By the time we first walked into this Colleyville, TX master bathroom, drywall had been opened, tile had been chipped away, and the stress of water damage hung in the air. The homeowners had acted quickly to stop the leak, but when our licensed plumber looked deeper, he found the underlying culprit, aging hot and cold water lines that weren’t functioning properly and would eventually fail again.
Fixing the root of the problem was the first step. We installed completely new dedicated hot and cold water lines, giving the home a stable and efficient water system for years to come. With the plumbing secured, the mood instantly shifted. What started as a stressful situation began transforming into a chance to redesign the bathroom they had always imagined.
Designing Their Dream Bath
Because much of the original bathroom had already been removed, visualizing the finished space wasn’t easy and that’s where our design process became essential. Before any construction began, our Design Team worked closely with the homeowners to create detailed floor plans, 3D renderings, and a clearly defined scope of work, that allowed them to see the space long before it was built.
The homeowners came to us with a clear sense of style: warm tones, natural finishes, and character. Immediately, we were all drawn to the idea of using Taj Mahal quartzite on the vanities… A timeless, organic material that pairs beautifully with stained wood.
They wanted the space to feel curated, not “builder-basic,” so instead of wall-to-wall vanities, they opted for two custom furniture-style cabinets that stand slightly apart from the side walls. We stained the vanities to bring warmth into the room and rebuilt the linen cabinet face frame to match, creating a cohesive look throughout the entire space.
Behind the Scenes: From Demo to Details
Once the designs and selections were finalized, the real work began. Before any tile or finishes could go in, there were permits to secure, inspections to pass, framing to adjust, and infrastructure to rebuild. The jobsite went through its messy phase (open walls, exposed plumbing, and plenty of dust) but that stage is where the foundation for a successful remodel is built.
The Star of the Show: The Tile Story
Where this bathroom really comes to life is in the wall tile. The homeowners loved the idea of wrapping the entire space in a wainscot with an elevated, layered accent band, something unique, detailed, and full of texture.
The foundation of the design is a beautiful Porcelain tile from Daltile Cohesion in Beige Matte. It runs along the lower portion of the walls, on the floor, and across every wall in the shower, tying the whole room together.
Above it, the real personality begins. The wainscot is built upward with:
- A wave patterned Argento Blend Marble tile
- A slim pencil liner to frame it at the top
This layered band won’t stop at the bathroom walls, it continues straight into the shower, circling the space at the same height for a seamless effect. It’s the kind of detail you immediately notice and fall in love with how thoughtful it feels.
Inside the shower, hexagon honed mosaic tile was installed on the floor. The shower walls reach a striking 8'4" height, matching the top of the closet door casing to make the space feel taller and more refined.
Freestanding Tub & Architectural Details
Across from the shower sits the client’s freestanding MTI Laney 2 soaker tub, perfectly positioned under two floating ledges that display décor, greenery, and bath essentials. The tub filler is floor-mounted in a brushed nickel finish, a detail that contrasts beautifully with the soft tile palette.
Throughout the space, we added updated lighting, framed mirrors, and new hardware.
