2020 has been a crazy year! We think we speak for everyone when we say we’re glad it’s coming to a close. Despite the tragic impact of the global pandemic and all of the hardships, struggles, and uncertainties it created, we are still so thankful for the many blessings we have received — as individuals and as a company. This time of year really makes you realize how much we need and appreciate one another. The Medford Team would like to take a minute to say thank you to all of our wonderful clients for trusting us and continuing to provide us with business all year long. We are beyond grateful and look forward to continuing with you into the new year!
This year has undoubtedly been full of surprises, struggles, and unexpected outcomes for many across the US and the world. With the holidays just around the corner, it’s fair to say that we could all benefit from sharing some kindness and lending a helping hand to others. The Medford Team is always happy to promote local community or charity events providing opportunities to help those in need!
With a slight change in protocol due to COVID-19, the Salvation Army is taking their holiday donation drive virtual this year. Helping others is as easy as a tap or swipe on your smart device. This is great news – the foundation says it could serve up to 155 percent more people in 2020 around the holidays, but due to the closing of retail stores, the increasing unemployment rates, consumers carrying less cash and coins, and the decline in foot traffic, they could see up to a 50 percent decrease in funds raised through their iconic Red Kettles. In order to compensate, the Salvation Army is hosting their “Rescue Christmas” Donation Drive, now through late December. Supporters can now donate digitally with Apple Pay or Google Pay at any Red Kettle across the country. They can also ask Amazon Alexa to donate by saying, “Alexa, donate to The Salvation Army,” then specifying the amount. Or, give any amount by texting “KETTLE” to 91999. Red Kettles and bell ringers are not disappearing; they will follow nationally mandated safety protocols, the organization says. And Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program will continue, with gift drop-offs at locations like Galleria Dallas, done in socially distanced ways.
There are a lot of variables that go into building an addition on a home — the property lines, drainage, the roof tie-in, and of course, ensuring that the addition will match the existing structure architecturally and aesthetically. Each of these, among other important items, were carefully addressed for our recent carport addition project in Arlington.
Our team not only wanted to make sure that the project was done correctly and to code, but also that it solved the client’s dilemmas regarding storage space, a shelter for their cars, and a place to house their exotic plants during the winter. The solution was to convert the existing garage into a storage room and add a luxurious carport to the spacious driveway. The finished project is absolutely stunning and meets all of the client’s needs!
We’ve completed a ton of kitchen remodels, each with their own unique story, special features, and creative aesthetic. Our team loves to reminisce on past projects as a job well done! One of our favorite kitchen renovations was this 1961 kitchen we had the pleasure of remodeling last year. When we first visited our client’s home, the kitchen had the original layout, cabinets, countertops, and lighting — all of which were in severe need of an update! Our team was thrilled with the opportunity to help bring our client’s dream kitchen to life with improved storage space, modern features, and an upgraded look.
This year has been a difficult one for many families across Texas, the US, and around the world. The uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an unprecedented loss of jobs, creating an unexpected struggle for many families. Each month, we like to share local community events and services that benefit those in need. This month, we’re spotlighting Just Between Friends (JBF) – a pop-up consignment shop with a commitment to helping families access clothing and other items for their children at an affordable price. Shoppers can find clothing, shoes, nursery gear, bath time essentials, safety must-haves, swings, bouncy chairs, strollers, highchairs, pack’n’plays, and more at a fraction of the cost in most retail stores.
Our featured progress this month is a glamorous master suite addition and garage conversion we recently completed in Colleyville. Our clients came to us with a few ideas to modify their forever home so that it would better meet their needs. They knew initially that they wanted to add on a luxurious master suite, complete with a large bedroom, full master bath, and walk-in closet. This space could not only be used by the homeowners themselves but could also be used to host guests or provide somewhere for their elderly parents to stay. The clients also wanted a place for their kids to call their own, to relax, hang out with friends, and do homework. Converting the existing garage to a game room made perfect sense by utilizing an existing space they didn’t use.
Our team loves working on out-of-the-ordinary projects! This past month, we completed a unique renovation on a client’s storage shed in Burleson, TX. This old shed was used to house lawn equipment, but our clients hoped to remodel it into a potting shed so they could enjoy their gardening hobby year-round. The Medford Team was not only able to make the shed more functional for the clients but also create a beautiful new aesthetic for the building on their property. We love reminiscing on past projects! This complete overhaul of a 1970’s master bathroom is one of our favorites!
Our clients in Arlington, TX had been waiting for years to remodel their master bathroom. The main issue was the large soaking tub that sat diagonally in the center of the room. The original design featured the tub as a focal point, sitting on a tiled step-up with a large cultured tile surround and decorative columns on each side, extending up to the ceiling. With large mirrors on both walls behind it, there was no ignoring that bathtub! The clients are thrilled to finally have a bathtub they are proud of, along with a completely remodeled bathroom, spacious walk-in shower, and custom vanities. Check out the transformation on our blog!
Our featured project this month is a guest bathroom we recently renovated in Fort Worth, TX. The clients bought the 1950’s home nearly 20 years ago and have slowly been updating it one project at a time. One of the final projects on their list was their guest bathroom, which was way past due for a refresh! Our clients expressed their love for nature and hoped to incorporate a natural, wood-look theme into the design.
