Our recent clients have a beautiful home right off a local lake. With a gorgeous panoramic view provided by a wall of windows that opens up to the patio, their kitchen serves as the primary hub during parties and get-togethers. Unfortunately, the home’s original kitchen just wasn’t built to accommodate the party scene:
As you can see in the before photos, the kitchen felt small and restricted due to the curved peninsula and the walls separating it from the neighboring laundry and formal dining room. One of our client’s main concerns was that the space didn’t flow well, and the small breakfast area couldn’t even fit 6 people at the table; not ideal for entertaining!
Original Kitchen Floor Plan:
The original floor plan shows the walls that we planned to remove in order to open up the entire area, providing space for a large island, a spacious dining area, and a smaller, more fitting laundry room.
Remodeled Kitchen Floor Plan:
The detailed renderings we created provided a realistic visual for our clients. Being able to see how their kitchen would look after the existing walls came down really made a big impact! Sometimes it’s hard for homeowners to imagine what their remodeled space will look like, but when our talented designers bring flat floor plans to life in custom 3D drawings, a whole new perspective is created!
Once the designs were perfect, we started on the demo of the old kitchen and surrounding walls. The existing laundry room was way too big, contributing to the lack of space in the dining area. Our team reconfigured the room, making it smaller and more functional, which provided for a more open and flowing floor plan.
The finished kitchen is absolutely beautiful! Complete with a convenient pot filler installed over the new gas stove, a sleek hidden vent hood, a counter-depth fridge that fits perfectly into the wall, and under cabinet lighting to showcase the stylish new backsplash and counter top.
Along with extra counter space, the new kitchen also has strategically placed can lights, providing a shadow-less environment over work areas; perfect for cooking! The dark stain on the distressed hardwood floors serves as a classy backdrop, really making the lighter cabinets and island stand out!
The beautiful island provides great additional storage cabinets for trays, cookie sheets and appliances. We also installed an under-counter microwave drawer inside the island, removing clutter for a cleaner look and more usable counter space.
We were also able to create a wine bar from an old study area just off the new kitchen. The previous desk looked dated and didn’t offer much when it came to entertaining guests. Now, the clients have a sleek new wine bar in their den and can provide their guests with refreshments while enjoying their company away from the kitchen. What an upgrade!
Our clients now have a beautiful, open kitchen to accompany their lake view and patio. Their remodeled home is the perfect place to host gatherings with their friends and family, and they couldn’t be happier!
