We’ve shared this event in the past years, but we wanted to spotlight it again to get the word out about an amazing “pay what you can” restaurant that is making a huge impact in our local community!
Taste Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit restaurant established to feed, educate, and serve those struggling with hunger in Fort Worth, TX. It’s shocking to hear that one of every six Americans faces the reality that they may not be able to provide for their next meal. There are programs in place that help; however, in Tarrant County, 36 percent of this food-insecure population live above the poverty level and receive no government help. Taste Project is working to make a difference by providing meals to those that can only pay a small amount. This comes as a welcomed relief to many, especially now, as we are all feeling the aftermath of the global pandemic.
Jeff Williams, the founder of Taste Project, believes everyone should have access to healthy nutritional food and supports the vision to see our community heed the call to battle and stand on the front lines against hunger. The restaurant focuses on healthy, quality meals made from fresh ingredients. The menu has no prices; it is a give-and-take concept. They simply ask customers to do one of the following:
1) pay what you can afford,
2) pay what you would typically pay, or
3) pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra.
This setup allows customers to freely give to the cause of helping those in need without any pressure or strings attached.
