Our recent clients in Arlington, Texas came to us with three problems that needed solving: they needed additional storage space, a place to keep their beautiful tropical plants during the winter months, and a covered area to park their vehicles. The existing 2-car garage helped some with these issues, but with their vehicles inside, the garage became overly crowded. After chatting with our design team and considering the options, utilizing the spacious driveway made perfect sense! The addition of a large carport would provide ample shelter for their 3 vehicles while also allowing their garage to be converted into a storage space and winter house for their plants. This concept checked all the boxes, allowing them to ‘kill three birds with one stone!’
A home remodeling request we have noticed becoming more popular recently is that of a master suite addition. We often meet with homeowners whose elderly parents are moving in with them or those that absolutely love their home, neighborhood, and community, and simply need more space. Whatever the reason may be, more and more homeowners are considering adding onto their current home instead of moving. While the obvious high cost of a major addition prevents us from completing too many of these types of projects, we do get the opportunity to complete them every now and then, and the clients are always glad they did it at the end!
The permit for our garage and patio cover project was issued this week. The garage is a two-car extension of the existing garage, creating the ultimate his and her garage. The patio cover will replace an existing patio cover that was built flat and is leaking. Our CAD design software allows us to show the client how the new projects will look once complete. The illustrations show how the architecture becomes seamless with the existing house, which will help with the long-term value of the investment.
