The Golden Hour Suite: A Master Suite Remodel in Fort Worth, TX

Written by Medford Design-Build | May. 20, 2026

Solving a Dark, Disconnected Space

This Fort Worth, TX master suite had good square footage, but it wasn’t working for the homeowners. The bedroom felt dark and underlit, making the space feel smaller and less inviting than it should. The transition into the bathroom was tight and disconnected, and the overall suite lacked the feeling of a cohesive retreat.

In the bathroom, the layout itself wasn’t the issue but everything within it needed to be reimagined. Outdated finishes, limited storage, and missed opportunities for functionality made the space feel inefficient. The closet also lacked the built-ins needed to truly support daily routines.

Ultimately, the goal wasn’t just to update finishes… it was to create a brighter, more functional master suite that felt intentional and easy to live in.

The Plan: Keep What Works, Elevate Everything Else

Instead of forcing a full layout change, our design-build team focused on improving function while working within the existing footprint.

Key planning decisions included:

    • Widening the doorway between the bedroom and bathroom to improve flow
    • Introducing layered lighting in the bedroom to solve the darkness
    • Keeping the bathroom layout but upgrading every functional element
    • Reworking the vanity into one continuous level for a cleaner look
    • Maximizing storage with a new linen cabinet and over-toilet cabinetry
    • Designing a fully customized closet with more intentional built-ins

Material direction was equally important. Our designer guided the homeowner toward:

    • Light, airy paint tones
    • Bronze finish Moen Voss series plumbing fixtures for warmth and contrast
    • Sette Mari Quartzite countertops in 3cm thickness
    • A mix of painted and stained cabinetry to add depth where possible

The Completed Space: A Suite That Finally Feels Like a Retreat

The finished master suite now feels like a completely different home experience without changing its footprint. Every element works together to create a calm, elevated environment.

The bedroom is brighter, more open, and thoughtfully furnished to fully utilize the space.

In the bathroom, updated finishes and improved storage bring both function and visual clarity.

Standout Features

This project is full of subtle but impactful upgrades that make a big difference in daily use:

    • Tub Upgrade
Kohler Tea-for-Two undermount cast iron soaking tub for a more refined focal point and an elevated bathing experience
    • Shower Bench Addition
Built-in comfort and functionality without compromising design
    • Custom Vanity (One-Level Design)
      Cleaner lines and better usability
    • Smart Storage Additions
Linen cabinet, over-toilet cabinetry, and optimized closet built-ins

Why Our Process & Design Package Works

Projects like this highlight the value of our design-build process. Instead of reacting during construction, every decision was made upfront through our design package.

This allows us to:

    • Identify constraints early
    • Plan smarter solutions
    • Ensure all selections work together cohesively
    • Reduce surprises during construction

The result is a smoother build process and a final space that feels fully considered.
