A Rustic Fireplace Gets an Elegant New Look

Check out this beautiful fireplace we recently remodeled for our clients in Arlington!

The client’s original fireplace featured a rustic, dated natural stone with heavy built-in wood shelves and a matching mantle. While it wasn’t the worst fireplace we’ve seen, it definitely needed a refresh to create the updated vision the clients had for their home.

Our designers discussed options to give the fireplace a more modern look, while still keeping its original footprint and built-in shelving. We then created detailed wall elevations and 3-D renderings to provide the clients with a visual of how the new fireplace would look once complete.

We began by discussing the goals the clients had in mind. They wanted to reconfigure the kitchen to incorporate an island and also update the powder bath, the fireplace in the den, and the bar area. Taking out the wall between the kitchen and the den and readjusting the desk area from the main walk way were also on the list.

After taking photos and measurements, our designers were able to create detailed floor plans and 3-D renderings to illustrate how the remodeled spaces would look once the renovations were complete:

3 Important Questions to ask Your Fireplace Contractor

A fireplace installation is a big job that is more intricate than most people realize. Needless to say, it can be both a safety hazard and a headache if it’s not done correctly! Here are 3 questions to ask your contractor before starting the project:

1. Are you licensed with the city and insured?

Licensing indicates a company possesses the required knowledge and experience to perform the job efficiently and to city code. The insurance covers any potential accidents. While you might expect these to be requirements of all professional companies, not everyone plays by the rules, so be sure to double check before you hire! Read more
