Stay Cool With These ‘SOLID’ Flooring Ideas: Our July 2015 Newsletter

woodfloor

Did you know that choosing optimal flooring is one of the best ways to combat heat retention in your home? While carpet may be fitting for winter months, it can really trap heat and contribute to a higher energy bill throughout the summer time. Cooler options, such as tile or wood, can be covered with carpets or rugs during cold weather and then exposed once the temperatures rise. Not only does this method refresh the style of your home for spring and summer, but it also provides an easy way to keep the temperatures comfortable for you and your family all year long!

Here are some great options for summer time flooring:

Tile Flooring

Tile Flooring – Tile is probably the most obvious summer time choice. Although tile is not a preferable pick for many homeowners in the winter, it really does help keep the temperature down in the summer. Due to its easy maintenance, durability and wide variety of available styles and colors, tile really is a great option and will make all the difference when it comes to keeping your home cool!

Marble Flooring

Marble Flooring – Marble is a more coveted choice due to its elegance and aesthetic appeal. Not only does it look nice, but it is highly resilient and easily maintained.  You’ll notice it is cold to touch, meaning cooler feet and a cooler home!

bamboo flooring

Bamboo Flooring –  Bamboo flooring is a great choice for both hot and cold seasons, as it helps heating up your floors in winter and gives a cooling effect in the summer. Bamboo has a controlled moisture content, making it crack and split resistant. It is relatively easy to maintain, durable, and affordable.

hardwoods

Hardwood Flooring – Hardwood flooring is probably the most popular choice of today’s homeowners.  It is an excellent option for flooring just about any space – patios, home gyms, home offices, living rooms, bedrooms, entryways; just about any room in the house looks great with wood floors!  Hardwood is foot friendly in summers and also warms nicely in the winters.

Vinyl Plank Flooring

Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring –  Vinyl Plank is the newest rage in flooring among homeowners. This wood-look tile has been used by commercial designers for years due to it’s durability and low maintenance, and has recently caught on in the residential remodeling world.  It provides the beautiful grained look of hardwoods and the cooling effects of a solid floor, without the maintenance issues of real wood or heat-retention of carpet.
